Permissions

The one-time permissions screen

The first time you create an account, FieldReportX shows a single screen explaining the permissions it would like, before you land on the Home tab. This happens once — normal logins never see it again.

Skipping doesn’t lock you out of anything. Any feature that actually needs a permission will ask for it again, in context, the first time you use it — e.g. tapping Take Photo, or the microphone icon on a Voice to Text field.

What’s requested and why

Permission Why FieldReportX asks
Camera & Photos Capture site photos and barcodes for your reports, and save captured photos to your device.
Location Optionally tag photos and GPS fields with your coordinates. Only accessed at the exact moment you take a photo or tap Capture on a GPS field — never in the background.
Microphone Power the Voice to Text field, so you can dictate notes instead of typing.

If you skip it

Tapping Skip for now takes you straight into the app — nothing is blocked. The first time you use a feature that needs a permission you haven’t granted, Android will ask again at that moment.

Changing your mind later

Permissions can be changed at any time from your device’s own Settings app: Settings → Apps → FieldReportX → Permissions. Revoking a permission doesn’t delete any data you’ve already captured — it just means that feature will ask again (or stop working) next time you try to use it.
